Rigney Racing Offload Invincible Fillies

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday May 27

Back at the 2023 Magic Millions Yearling Sale there was plenty of media attention when US investors Richard and Tammy Rigney arrived at the Gold Coast following a holiday on the Great Barrier Reef and purchased two stunning fillies by I Am Invincible for a combined total of $3.2million.

Both fillies, Invincible Claire and Invincible Madison, were sold at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on Tuesday for considerably less than their purchase price as part of the Newgate Consignment.

Both fillies were put into work with Peter Snowden and Invincible Claire trialled three times, but is yet to race, while Invincible Madison has had six starts for a maiden win at Canberra.

Invincible Claire sold for $2million as a yearling, pictured back in 2023.

Invincible Claire was purchased as a yearling for $2million and was the first to sell making $600,000 as a breeding proposition only when purchased by James Bester Bloodstock/Eric Lucas.

She is a full sister to metro winner Fickle from Group III winner Flippant, a half-sister to Group I winner I Am Excited from the family of Group I winners Atlantic Jewel, Commanding Jewel and Russian Emperor.

"I had a part in buying Atlantic Jewel and I’ve always had a soft spot for this family," said James Bester.

“The client for whom I bought her, Eric Lucas, actually has a part of the mother, Flippant, and a part of the sister and was very keen to stay involved.

“She’s a beautiful filly who cost seven figures-plus as a yearling. She was always going to make a fair bit of money, but there wouldn’t be many better types in the sale than she is.”

Invincible Madison was purchased as a yearling for $1.2million and sold for $200,000 to Trilogy Racing/Suman Hedge Bloodstock.

She is a three-quarter sister-in-blood to Group III winner Super One and is the first foal from Group II placed Super Too.

Interestingly, Invincible Madison has a two year-old full brother called Knights that was bought by Rosemont Stud/Suman Hedge Bloodstock for $600,000 at Magic Millions last year and while he is yet to trial or race, he is in work with Chris Waller.

The yearling from Super Too, a filly by Home Affairs, will also be heading into the Waller stable as she was bought for $370,000 by Star Thoroughbreds/Randwick Bloodstock Agency at Magic Millions this year, so there is a bit happening in this family which may well make Invincible Madison a good investment for her new owners.
