Winx to Visit Too Darn Hot

Tara Madgwick - Monday June 2

World champion racehorse Winx is set for a new chapter in her stud career this spring with an announcement from her ownership group of Peter Tighe, Debbie Kepitis and Elizabeth Treweeke that Too Darn Hot (GB) is the chosen one.

"We are thrilled to announce Too Darn Hot as the stallion of choice for Winx this season,'' said Peter Tighe on behalf of Winx's owners.

"His pedigree, performance and the early success of his progeny align with our long-term vision for Winx's breeding legacy.

"We believe this pairing has the potential to produce something very special.''

Too Darn Hot (GB) will cover Winx later this year.

By champion sire Dubawi, Too Darn Hot (GB) has proven to be a sire sensation in Australia claiming Champion First Season Sire honours with his first crop that included Champion 2YO Broadsiding.

He is powering along in a similar vein this year leading the Second Season sire table by winners (48), earnings ($9million) and stakes-winners (10) and is due back at Darley Australia at a fee of $275,000.

Too Darn Hot has produced five winners to date from mares by Winx’s sire Street Cry (IRE) and they include $3.9million earning four time Group I winner Broadsiding and $1.4million earning Group III winner Arabian Summer.

The Winx female family has been in overdrive this year producing four new stakes-winners all of them Group winners led by Group I winner Gringotts and the others are Enriched, City of Lights and Vegas Queen.

Winx has produced two foals so far, an unraced two year-old filly by Pierro called Quinceanera and weanling colt by Snitzel, but will have no foal this year after being given a year off in 2024.
