One to Watch – Cranbourne

Tara Madgwick - Sunday June 22

Second in the Group III VRC Maribyrnong Plate last year to Tycoon Star, this Cosmic Force colt made light work of a maiden at Cranbourne on Sunday when bolting away to win as he pleased.

Trained by the Lindsay Park team, Bacash had three runs last spring for two placings and a close debut fifth in Listed company and has obviously come back from a good spell with much improvement.

He was a hot favourite with Daniel Stackhouse in the saddle and gave punters no cause for concern when dashing clear to win the 1200m maiden by six lengths in an utterly dominant performance.

“That was visually very, very good. I love the way that he flicked his ears at the top of the straight,” said co-trainer JD Hayes.

“It was a sign that he had plenty to offer, and when Stacky asked for an effort, there was plenty of horse there. It’s a good way to kick off the campaign.

“He’s a big strong colt… couldn’t be more pleased with that.”

Bacash was a $200,000 Magic Millions purchase for Lindsay Park Racing from the Robin Wise draft and was a successful pinhook having been sourced from MM National for $120,000 as a weanling by Blade Bloodstock.

He was the most expensive yearling by his sire sold at the Gold Coast in 2024,

Bacash is the fourth winner from four foals to race from Classique, a winning daughter of duke of Marmalade (IRE) from the family of Group I winner Driefontein and stakes-winners Follow Gold, Black on Gold, Export Gold, Dubawi Gold and Forest Gold.

Cosmic Force stands at Newgate this spring at a fee of $16,500.
