$3million Won Through Inglis Xtra Bonus

Media Release - Sunday June 29

A staggering $3m has now been won as part of the Inglis Xtra Bonus Series following today’s victory by the Cody Morgan-trained 3YO Considered at Dubbo.

The Xtra Bonus Series was implemented at the start of this Australian racing season and has gone off 30 times from 43 races.

A total of 50 maidens Australia-wide – effectively one each week – carry the bonus per season, which sees a $100,000 Xtra Bonus paid to eligible winners.

To win the bonus, a horse simply needs to be an Inglis graduate from 2024 or beyond, paid up for the Inglis Race Series and win the eligible race.

The series has had an extraordinary reach in its short history - Morgan today became the 27th individual trainer to claim the bonus while more than 250 individual owners have been successful.

In total more than 1700 owners have been represented with eligible runners, 100 individual trainers have had runners and 177 individual eligible horses have run for the lucrative purses on offer.

Today's winner Considered was a $30,000 Inglis HTBA Yearling purchase.

Considered (So You Think) is a $30,000 HTBA Yearling Sale purchase for Group One Thoroughbreds from the Widden Stud draft and as Morgan said post-race, “she never has to win another race and we’re well in front’’.

“Today’s race, and some of the others, have been restricted to country-trained horses and that makes a huge difference too,’’ Morgan said.

“$100,000 is a lot of money and knowing it’s on offer in a maiden, it really does make you want to buy horses from Inglis and pay up for the Race Series.

“These owners are beyond happy, it’s just a great opportunity for owners and trainers to win really big money.

“It’s brought a lot of hype and excitement for all the owners and it’s just a great concept for everyone.’’

Inglis’ NSW Bloodstock Operations Manager Chris Russell added: “The Xtra Bonus Series has been a revelation this season.

“Connections of Considered collect $120,625 for her maiden win today, which is pretty extraordinary and there have been fantastic stories like this right through the season.

“It was an initiative borne out of Inglis wanting to see more of our patrons win more Inglis prizemoney more often and it has worked out better than we ever could have imagined.”

The next Inglis Xtra Bonus Maiden will be held at Hawkesbury on Thursday.
