First Stakes-Winner for Palace Pier

Kingman’s champion Group I winning son Palace Pier (GB) only shuttled to Darley Australia for one year and will have his first runners this season with his first Northern Hemisphere stakes-winner arriving overnight when Morris Dancer win the Listed Stonehenge Stakes (1m) at Salisbury.

A homebred for Godolphin trained by John and Thady Gosden, Morris Dancer was second at his previous start in the Group II Vintage Stakes at Goodwood and broke through for an easy four length win under William Buick.

He ran away from another Palace Pier colt in A Bit of Spirit to give his young sire a stakes quinella

Morris Dancer has two wins from four starts and holds further entries for Group races next month.

Morris Dancer is the best of two winners from Menuetto, a winning half-sister by Dubawi to the dam of imported Australian Group II winner Promise of Success (GB).

He is the latest stakes-winner for a very famous family with Group III winning third dam Allez les Trois being a half-sister to legendary blue hen Urban Sea. She has founded her own dynasty of G1 stars including Anabaa Blue, Los Angeles, Facteur Cheval and Santiago.

Palace Pier covered 97 mares in his lone season at a fee of $55,000 ang has around 60 two year-olds to run this season.

Palace Pier has sired seven winners in the Northern Hemisphere and stands at a fee of £32,000.
