Fifth Stakes Winner for Spirit Of Boom

Mark Smith - Saturday May 5

The Richard Jolly-trained filly Heaven's Deal became the fifth stakes-winner from the first crop of Spirit Of Boom while denying the Darley stallion Albrecht his first when she out-bobbed Sanglier in a thrilling finish to Saturday's Queen Adelaide Stakes (1050m) at Morphettville.

A 5-length winner when making her career debut at Murray Bridge on April 18, Heaven's Deal travelled sweetly under Jake Toeroek on the outside of Miss Flatley as Sanglier forced a passage on the inside rail.

In a driving finish, Heaven's Deal edged Sanglier by a nose with a length and a quarter back to Dancer's Kin in third.

"She had a good run and found under pressure, Jolly said.

"The other horse challenged on the inside and had his chance but she kept on kicking and it was a good win. She's nice little filly.

"She's got good speed but you can't win leading all the time so you have to teach them and today she relaxed beautifully.

"It's great to win a stakes race with a filly and she's got a bit of value on her now.

"We will look at the National Stakes in a fortnight, I think it is a Group III race and it will probably be the same type of field so if she pulls up alright we will probably roll the dice and give her another run."

Purchased by her trainer for just $23,000 out of the Cornerstone Stud draft at the 2017 Adelaide Magic Millions Yearling Sale, Heaven's Deal (pictured as a yearling ) is the first foal of the Good Journey mare Done Deal a half-sister to the dual Listed winner Diamondsondinside (Iglesia) and the stakes-placed Miss Argyle who is the dam of Listed winner Cheyenne Warrior.

Another half-sister to Done Deal is the unraced Air's Precious who is the dam of Group II Queensland Guineas winner Express Air.

Done Deal was purchased off the track for $10,500 at the 2013 Inglis Australian Bloodstock Sale.

Her yearling filly by Spirit Of Boom was snapped up by Kennewell Racing for $125,000 at this year's Adelaide Magic Millions.

Done Deal has a weanling filly by Sidereus and was covered by Defcon last spring.

Heaven's Deal joins Ef Troop, Outback Barbie, and the Restricted Listed winners Jonker and Kinky Boom on the burgeoning list of stakes-winners for first season sire sensation Spirit Of Boom who has had his service fee raised to a state record $55,000 at Eureka Stud this year.
