I Am Invincible Colt Tops Gold Coast Horses in Training Sale

Media Release - Thursday October 9

A colt by champion Yarraman Park Stud stallion I Am Invincible topped today's Magic Millions Gold Coast Horses in Training Sale when selling for $550,000.

The I Am Invincible x Ballet de Joie colt sold for $550,000.

The powerful Laming Racing team of father-son trainers Bevan and Richard Laming were able to outbid local conditioner Paul Shailer to land the prized pick of the breeze up style auction.

Offered by breeder Baramul Stud, the colt is the first foal of an unraced Snitzel sister to multiple Group One winning sire Russian Revolution and half sister to the dam of Home Affairs.

"He had a great pedigree," Richard Laming said minutes after the gavel fell. "He's a beautiful individual."

"He's got a stallion's pedigree to go with it. You've probably got to pay a bit more than you'd expect - but you've got to buy the ones you want."

"We've got on the front foot and already sold quite a bit of him. There's still a little bit left as you'd expect. A horse like him will sell himself."

"I looked at his breeze up and then as an individual you'd think he would get up and go. There's been good reports from the people who prepared him."

"We've had a bit of luck buying horses off Gerry, so we'll keep supporting him as he supports us," Laming added.

The second top seller on the day was Lot 123, the Wootton Bassett-Bit of Cheek colt who was offered by O'Gorman Racing Stables and sold to Adelaide investor Wayne Ormond for $400,000.

The colt, who was originally an Adelaide Yearling Sale buy, is a half brother to stakes winner Blondeau and three other winners.

Magic Millions China representative Amy Feng rounded out the day as leading buyer with 13 purchases at a spend of $1.4 million.

Her haul included the Snitzel colt from Diademe who was offered by Baramul Stud and secured with a $360,000 bid.

The Bond family's Kenmore Lodge celebrated a remarkable sale with their 11 offerings all selling for a gross of $1,622,500 and average price of $147,500.

Baramul Stud pipped Kenmore as leading vendor on gross with 19 selling for total receipts of $1,771,000.

Across the day almost $7 million was traded on 94 lots sold at an average price of $73,351 and clearance rate of 68 per cent.

"It was a pretty solid day's trade today," Magic Millions Managing Director Barry Bowditch said. "There was a very diverse buying bench with buyers from all across Asia - Hong Kong, China, the Philippines, Malaysia and many other places."

"It was a good, deep, diverse buying market that complemented what we had here locally. Queenslanders stepped in - New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia all participated."

"From an interstate perspective it was a strong sale and it gives us something to build upon for this sale into the future."

The focus now switches to the remainder of the Spring Racing Carnival before the 2026 Magic Millions Carnival in January.

"It's a big spring on the racetrack with some great graduates going into the big races in the near future and then we are building the catalogue for January."

"We are very excited to be getting back here in the second week of January and having a big, big carnival and having everybody up here on the Gold Coast in Queensland for what is an exciting time of year."

"With over $20 million in prizemoney and 1200 lots to go through the ring we are looking forward to it all happening again," Bowditch added.
