One to Watch – Hawkesbury

Tara Madgwick - Thursday May 24
At the 2015 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale, James Harron Bloodstock secured a very nice colt by Pierro for his owners Greg and Donna Kolivos and that now three year-old gelding is our ‘One to Watch’ on Thursday.

PierroTrained by Peter and Paul Snowden, Toroso was unplaced on debut in June last year and subsequently gelded before reappearing on May 10 to finish an unlucky third at Haweksbury.

Sent out favourite for the 1500 metre maiden, he dd everything right to race up on the pace and then forged clear to win by a length and three-quarters.

A $280,000 purchase from the Rothwell Park draft, Toroso was bred by the late Don Storey and is from one of his best families.

Toroso is the third winner from smart stakes-winner Walk Alone, a half-sister to the dam of Storey’s multiple Group II winner Rain Affair, who won over $1.5 million in prizemoney.

Another bright prospect for Pierro, Toroso is one of over 50 winners this season for Pierro, who will be the Champion Australian Second Season Sire for 2017/2018.

Pierro stands at Coolmore this spring at a fee of $88,000.
