Unbeaten Written Tycoon Mare Stays Perfect at Caulfield

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday November 19

The most exciting winner on the card at Caulfield on Wednesday was the Ciaron Maher trained red hot favourite Tennessee Bound and the talented daughter of Written Tycoon made it three wins straight with another easy victory.

The four year-old broke her maiden on debut at Kyneton last month and then followed up with a Benchmark 62 win at Cranbourne with the Benchmark 66 event over 1200m on Wednesday her first foray into metropolitan racing.

Ridden by Ben Allen, who has partnered the mare in her two previous wins, Tennessee Bound led for home and kicked clear to win by a length with stable representative Leigh Allen likening her to former star mare Marabi.

“She did everything we wanted her to and is third up now for three wins,” said Leigh Allen.

“She snuck up on us a little bit. She had a few immaturity issues early doors and soundness issues, so she was a time job and now it’s all come together which is very pleasing.

“A break will do her the world of good, but we will just see how she comes through it.

“She does remind me a little bit of Marabi, who started off as a 4YO  and went through the grades and eventually won an Oakleigh Plate. That might be a bit too lofty, but she’s a similar type of horse and I’m ecstatic for Gerry Ryan as he is a big supporter of the stable.”

Tennessee Bound was a $150,000 Inglis Premier purchase.

A $150,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the Morningside draft for John Foote Bloodstock, Tennessee Bound has won three from three banking over $72,000 and runs in the colours of Gerry Ryan’s Limerick Lane.

She is the first winner from stakes-winning Per Incanto (USA) mare Tennessee, a half-sister to Group I winner Campionessa and stakes-winner Leedox.

Tennessee has no yearling for the sales this year but has foaled this spring producing a colt by Pierata.
