Hellbent Mares Firing into Summer

Tara Madgwick - Thursday December 4

It was a three winner Wednesday for Hellbent that included a metro double at Warwick Farm and it could be a very good week for the Yarraman Park based sire, whose quality daughter Vivy Air runs in the Group I WATC Northerly Stakes this Saturday.

Hellbent is enjoying a benchmark season with earnings topping $7million putting him in the Top 10 sires and adding to the tally at Warwick Farm were five year-old mares Miss Hades and Hellbent on You.

Trained by Gary Portelli, Miss Hades was an $80,000 Inglis Classic purchase from the Yarraman Park draft for Elite Thoroughbreds and has won five races and over $250,000, while Hellbent on You has also won five races and over $200,000 for the John Thompson stable.\

The Ciaron Maher trained five year-old mare Vivy Air will be shooting for her fifth win at Ascot on Saturday, but her prizemoney is a bit different from Miss Hades and Hellbent on You!

She scored a deserved last start win in the $2million ATC Five Diamonds (1800m) beating Group I winners Transatlantic and Militarize and has arrived in Perth in top form.

Ethan Brown takes the ride on Vivy Air this Saturday in the $1.5million ATC Northerly Stakes (1800m) and she has drawn gate 12.

Hellbent has solid representation at upcoming sales with this crop of his yearlings to first to be offered after his fee was raised to $38,500. He has 21 for Magic Millions and 18 for Inglis Classic.
