One to Watch – Seymour

Tara Madgwick - Thursday December 18

With his oldest progeny now three year-olds Russian Camelot (IRE) can be expected to start making his presence felt a little more and he had an impressive winner at Seymour on Thursday for Roll the Dice Racing.

Trained by Anthony and Sam Freedman, Brickendon was fifth on debut at Geelong last month and found a step up to 1300m for his second start just to his liking.

Ridden by Jett Stanley, Brickendon settled back in the field and charged to the line to win by a length and a half eased down over the race favourite Grand Fuego with another Russian Camelot 3YO Storming Camelot grabbing third on debut.

Brickendon was bought by Roll The Dice Racing/Rogers Bloodstock from the JCS Thoroughbreds draft at the Magic Millions Horses in Training Sale for $95,000 and was a successful pinhook having been bought for $55,000 from the Caithness Breeding draft at Adelaide Magic Millions.

Jett Stanley believes there is more to come from Brickendon.

“He’s still green and raw and learning how to do everything and the ownership group have been very patient and all the favours were in his court today and it worked out well,” said Stanley.

“He got to the front a bit sooner than I would have liked, but I was very happy with the way he knuckled down and fought to the line.

“I can’t wait for the future with this horse as he has a motor under him and once the coin drops he will be a very nice horse.”

Bred by Trilogy Racing, Brickendon is the fourth winner from four foals to race from Fairytale Ending, an unraced daughter of Group II winner Vormista.

A dual G1 winning son of Camelot, Russian Camelot stands at Widden Victoria and has two entries for Magic Millions and nine for Inglis Premier.
