At this month’s Magic Millions yearling sale on the Gold Coast, the team will offer a quality draft of eight yearlings, including a pair by their home-grown Champion 3YO Colt Home Affairs, as well as half-relations to two recent stakes winners.

Speaking to Stud Manager Mel Copelin, the team are really looking forward to presenting their draft.

“Chosen on type, they all carry natural muscle and have basically prepared themselves,” enthused Copelin.

“Having reduced the number of broodmares on the farm has allowed me to have more time to be hands on with this draft and they have all been a delight to work with.

“All are physically and mentally ready to start straight after the sale. Along with them being the perfect type for a Magic Millions sale, they have plenty of pedigree behind them as well as proven broodmare sires of the likes of O’Reilly, Street Cry, Snitzel and High Chaparral.”

Lot 79: Home Affairs x Axiomatic, by O’Reilly (NZ) filly

Filly out of the O’Reilly mare Axiomatic, a half-sister to the dual G1 winner Xtravagant and his G3-winning, G1 placed half-brother He’s Remarkable. Bred on the same Home Affairs x O’Reilly cross as G2 winner Kinnaird.

“This filly presents with all the pre potent features we have come accustomed to from Home Affairs. Breeders would agree that he provides an unmistakable physique, improved substance, strength and bone in most cases giving the mares their best foals.

“This filly is no exception having some scope from her O’Reilly dam breeding her to speed we have a beautiful moving filly with strength and sprinters hind leg. The filly has been the barn favourite with her tractable temperament and willingness to please.”

Lot 158: Zoustar x Centimental, by Snitzel colt

First foal out of the G3 Widden Stakes runner-up Centimental, a four-time-winning daughter of Snitzel, with the colt bred on the successful Zoustar x Snitzel cross (88.5% W/R).

“This colt has been a standout from day one - unmistakably in the mould of his sire. He is the first living foal from our homebred mare and bred on the same cross as our exciting stakes winning filly Stardom who is back in work as we speak.

“This colt has a real sense of class in everything he does, thrives on routine and is extremely professional to deal with.”

Lot 217: Toronado (IRE) x Diddums, by Snitzel filly

Daughter of Toronado (IRE) out of the G3 P J Bell Stakes winner Diddums, a half-sister to six-time G1-winning yearling graduate Voyage Bubble.

“Built just like her dam, strong and robust - eats like a champion. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to get into this family highlighted by the current star of the farm Voyage Bubble.

“We are fortunate that Diddums is still relatively young and us having retained two daughters allows us to present her for sale.

“A lovely, relaxed filly to deal with but she’s knows when she needs to be on the job, sharply anticipates the click for the walker or the hinge on the stable door and is ready on the spot.”

Lot 26: Hellbent x Aesop’s Fable, by Foxwedge filly

A daughter of I Am Invincible stallion Hellbent, the sire of 28 stakes performers, led by G1 winners Magic Time and Bendetta, the filly is the first foal Foxwedge mare Aesop’s Fable

Bred on the Hellbent x Danehill pedigree cross which has produced $1.8m earner Fully Lit.

Lot 397: Harry Angel (IRE) x Isle Of Capri, by Street Cry colt

By the sire of Australian G1 winners Tom Kitten, Private Harry and War Machine, the Harry Angel (IRE) colt is out of the Street Cry mare Isle Of Capri, the dam of two winners so far including the promising Oakfield Jupiter, a winner of four from five races. Bred on the same cross as $6.2m earner Tom Kitten.

Lot 691: Farnan x Precious Pasquelle, by High Chaparral filly

Daughter of the inform G1 Golden Slipper winner Farnan, this filly is out of the unraced High Chaparral mare Precious Pasquelle, a blood-sister to the G2-winning, G1 placed Omei Sword (dam of G3 winner Muramasa), from the family of G1 Thousand Guineas winner Irish Lights.

Lot 702: Harry Angel (IRE) x Progressive, by Street Cry filly

By the sire of Australian G1 winners Tom Kitten, Private Harry and War Machine, this Harry Angel filly is a half-sister to Matthew Smith’s recent G3 Angst Stakes winner Idle Flyer. From the family of Redoute’s Choice, this filly is out of a full sister to the dam to G1 winner and $6.2m earner Tom Kitten.

Lot 827: Home Affairs x Snappy Reply, by Snitzel colt

A son of dual G1 winner Home Affairs, this colt is the first foal out of full-sister to G1 Golden Slipper winner Estijaab and the G3 winner Remarque, all out of the G1 winner Response.

“With a majority of the draft made up of proven sires and with Home Affairs putting his hand up on New Year’s Day with a stakes quinella and blistering trial runners every week, there are no weak links in our draft and we can’t wait to show them off on the Gold Coast,” said Copelin.

Inspections of the Torryburn Stud draft will begin on the morning of January 9, located in Stable H.
