King’s Legacy Metro 2YO Quinella

Tara Madgwick - Saturday January 10

The standalone metro meeting at Wyong on Saturday had an early start due to the heatwave and also a long shot winner with unheralded King’s Legacy colt Audit claiming the prize over race favourite Royal Exile.

Also by King’s Legacy, the Jenny Graham trained Royal Exile had race experience in his favour with a debut win at Taree last month under his belt, but couldn’t quite hold off audit at the post.

Ridden patiently by Andrew Adkins, the Les Bridge trained Audit settled back in the small field and was strong at the finish albeit racing greenly to snatch a half head win in the 1200m contest.

“He was able to settle on the tails of them and travel in comfort which helped,” said Andrew Adkins.

“He still has a few things to iron out and did a bit wrong. He felt like he would win by a length and in the end won by a head, so there is good improvement to come.”

Audit was a $60,000 Inglis Classic purchase.

A $60,000 Inglis Classic purchase for Banjo Bloodstock from the Mullaglass Stud draft, Audit is the first winner from stakes-winning Showcasing (GB) mare Flaunting (NZ).

Audit is the 19th winner this season for King’s Legacy, who has just one entry for Magic Millions and six for Inglis Classic.
