$550,000 Home Affairs Filly to Redgum Racing

Tara Madgwick - Friday January 16

John McArdle has had a great run of late with flying I Am Invincible filly My Gladiola and he took a shine to another good looking filly bred for speed at Magic Millions on Friday paying $550,000 for the Home Affairs filly from Real Surreal.

$550,000 Home Affairs filly from Real Surreal.

Bred and sold by Cressfield, she is the fifth living foal of slick juvenile Real Surreal, who won the Magic Millions 2YO Classic and was also second in the Group II ATC Surround Stakes, a race now upgraded to G1 status.

“She’s a filly that we showed to Paul Johnson, My Gladiola’s owner, she’s a very similar strong, running-looking filly and she’s a November foal so she’s got a lot of developing to do,” said John McArdle.

“She’s just a lovely, athletic filly from a fast family so hopefully she’ll be back running early next year.”

McArdle sees a good omen in her price and is also fast becoming a fan of her sire.

“$550,000 is exactly the same amount we paid for My Gladiola. I think Johnno was going to drop out until he realised, so hopefully lightning strikes twice."

“I’ve had to run against a few of them (Home Affairs) and they were pretty quick so that’s made me want to come and have a look at a few.”

Home Affairs has sired four winners so far and will have one of the favourites in the $500,000 Magic Millions Debut(1000m) on Saturday in Lady Moscato.
