$625,000 In the Congo Colt to Gai and Adrian

Tara Madgwick - Friday January 16

He’s a three-quarter brother to undefeated superstar Autumn Glow and won the Group I ATC Golden Rose beating Anamoe, so it was no surprise when In the Congo made a splash at Magic Millions on Friday to deliver a colt that sold for $625,000.

Consigned by Newgate Farm, the colt from Stolen Jade was bought by Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott/Kestrel Thoroughbreds, so will be going into the same stable that produced his sire.

$625,000 In The Congo colt from Stolen Jade.

“I thought he was the best In The Congo in the sale,” said Adrian Bott.

“We have such a strong belief on In The Congo as a stallion and how successful will be.

“He was a phenomenal racehorse to have in the stable. What he did in that early part of his two and three-year-old career…he showed remarkable precocity and tremendous natural speed.

“His win in the Golden Rose was top-class, the way he sustained that speed.

“We really wanted to come here and target the best In The Congo and we well and truly felt that was him, and obviously so did plenty of others in the room because it wasn’t easy to get him.”

“That colt is all class, there’s so much quality about him and he had so much presence. The way he continued to handle the preparation and the sale, just the ultimate professional and a really good constitution. There’s so much to like about him.”

The colt was bred by SF Bloodstock and partners and is the first foal of Stolen Jade, a metro winning So You Think grand-daughter of brilliant Group II winning sprinter Magic Music.

Stolen Jade had a filly last spring by Stay Inside and was then covered by Extreme Choice.
