Media Release - Wednesday January 28

The Melbourne Racing Club (MRC) will host a comprehensive morning of official trials at Caulfield Heath on Thursday 29 January, with 15 trials scheduled to commence from 7.30am featuring stars such as Treasurethe Moment and Giga Kick.

A total of more than 90 horses will take part across distances ranging from 800 metres to 1500 metres, with trials catering for two-year-olds, maidens and open-class performers.

The program features several high-profile and established gallopers, headlined by the reappearance of champion sprinter Giga Kick, who will meet younger stakes winners McGaw, My Gladiola and Pop Award in the third heat of the morning over 800 metres.

Giga Kick, who has won over $14 million in prizemoney, is unbeaten from two starts this season following wins in the Group 2 Henley Homes Schillaci Stakes (1100m) and Group 1 VRC Champions Sprint (1200m).

Also set to trial is Treasurethe Moment, the four-time Group 1-winning mare contesting the opening 1000-metre trial.

Treasurethe Moment started her spring campaign by winning the Group 1 Stow Storage Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield and trainer Matt Laurie intends to start her upcoming preparation over the same course in the Group 1 Sportsbet Futurity Stakes (1400m) on February 21.

Group 1-winning stablemate Vinrock will trial in the second heat over 1000 metres.

Strong representation from leading Victorian stables is a feature throughout the program, with trainers Ben, Will & JD Hayes, Danny O’Brien and Phillip Stokes prominent across multiple trials.
