There were five heats won by juveniles at Randwick on Thursday morning and they included unraced youngsters by first season sires Pinatubo (IRE) and Profiteer, plus a Snitzel filly that made $1.2million at Inglis Easter last year.
Anthony and Sam Freedman put the polish on Aryaam, who showed natural pace at her first ever trial to lead and kick clear for Zac Lloyd beating another well bred youngster in Zoustar colt Starblitz.
Aryaam is a full sister to metro winner Cash and is the second foal from Group II winning Written Tycoon mare Super Cash, whose third foal is a Dundeel colt that will be offered by Arrowfield Stud at Inglis Easter as Lot 130.
Another first day trialler with a sibling in an upcoming sale is the Ron Quinton trained Too Darn Hot (GB) filly Found the Gold, who found the line well in her heat to win by a length.
She comes from a family that has produced some top class fillies with her dam Federosa, a daughter of Group II winner Rose O’War, who is turn from Group I AJC Australian Oaks winner Savana City.
Coolmore will offer her yearling half-brother by Starspangledbanner at Inglis Premier as Lot 53.
Second look at the Rosemont Stud owned Zoustar colt Peyton, who won his only previous trial last November for the O’Shea Charlton stable. He made good ground late between runners doing his best work on the line for James McDonald.
Peyton was passed in at Magic Millions and retained by Rosemont and is the first foal of slick Group III winning juvenile Mildred, who was bought by Rosemont from the Inglis Chairman’s Sale for $850,000 in 2021.
The Michael Freedman trained blueblood Pinatubo (IRE) filly Promenade was having her fourth trial and second this prep with Sam Clipperton giving her a positive ride from barrier one to go forward and hold the fence. She responded well and did all that was asked of her to win by a couple of lengths.
Promenade is the 12th living foal from blue hen Essaouira, who has had 11 foals to race for 10 winners headed by Group I winners Alizee and Astern as well as Group placed Mogador and Tassort, now a successful sire.
The Peter Snowden trained Profiteer gelding Keystrike is another unraced youngster on his fourth trial and this was his best so far in scoring by half a length over highly rated colt Campione D’Italia, who was back at the trials for an educational outing after his below par debut when unplaced in the Listed ATC Lonhro Plate.
Keystrike has some pedigree to recommend him being from stakes-winner Typing, a grand-daughter of high class filly On Type, who won the Group II ATC Surround Stakes back in 2001 before the race was rightly elevated to G1 status.
