Sixth Winner for Dundeel

Tara Madgwick - Monday July 30
A superstar son of High Chaparral (IRE), Dundeel might be expected to get better three year-olds ,but his first crop of two year-olds have still shown good promise this season with a sixth winner emerging at Kempsey on Monday for the powerful Kris Lees stable.

Sunreel as a yearlingCarrying the familiar colours of Australian Bloodstock, two year-old filly Sunreel was overdue for a win having already finished second three times from her previous four starts.

She was a hot favourite to put that right in the 1250 metre maiden against older horses and duly stormed home from back in the field to win running away by a length and a half.

A $65,000 Inglis Classic purchase for Australian Bloodstock/ Lees Racing from the Arrowfield Stud draft, Sunreel is the first winner for stakes-placed Danzero mare Golden Sunshine.

She is the sixth winner for Dundeel, who has four Aussie winners as well as on each in New Zealand and South Africa, his best offspring the Group III winning colt Irukandji.

Dundeel stands at Arrowfield Stud at a fee of $27,500 this spring.
