Another Rewarding Season

Media Release - Wednesday August 1
The 2017/18 Australian Racing season has concluded and Reward for Effort has again provided a model of consistency for Victorian Breeders.

Reward for EffortIn the past season, Reward For Effort sired a whopping 96 individual Australian Winners of 146 wins.

In the past week he's sired a tough 2YO winner Reward For Silence, Sydney Winner Gwenneth as well as the exciting prospect of Fancy Rumble who placed third behind Nature Strip and Sunlight in the Lightning Stakes. The dam of Fancy Rumble has been booked back to Reward For Effort this season. Placing fourth in the Lightning Stakes was Thompson's Reward.

96 individual Winners puts Reward For Effort in the top 20 for Australian Sires and 3rd in Victoria behind Written Tycoon and Magnus who respectively have 4 and 3 extra crops of racing age.

Big developments came in Hong Kong this season where Reward For Effort sired five individual winners, headed by gun sprinter Jumbo Luck and debut winner Lucky Volatility, both bred by Eamon McNulty. Agents acting for Hong Kong interests are quick to snap up any likely Reward For Effort prospects including Caulfield Winner Kasi Farasi and Canterbury debut winner Copy Boy who were both sent to Hong Kong after large offers were agreed to.

Reward For Effort's commercial appeal grows as he recorded a healthy $84,000 average at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale. Three of these were sold to Hong Kong buyers and another three were sold to keen Reward For Effort supporter John Foote who purchased Stakes Winners, Brugal Reward and Dalradian from Chatswood's Premier Draft in 2015. Reward was also the leading sire by average at the Inglis VOBIS Sale this year.

With the never-ending flurry of Winners, Reward has no trouble keeping his name at the forefront of breeders minds, covering the most mares in Victoria last year.

Despite the results and affection from breeders, the bullish Blue Diamond Winner will remain at a Service Fee of $16,500 inc GST.
