First Foal for Delicacy

Tara Madgwick - Thursday August 2
Not many three year-old fillies can win two Oaks and two Derbies, but the Bob and Sandra Peters homebred Delicacy did just that which is why the arrival of her first foal has been making mainstream news in Western Australia this week where she did much of her racing.

Sent to reigning Champion Australian Second Season Sire Pierro in her first season at stud, Delicacy produced this lovely filly at Holbrook Thoroughbreds in the Hunter Valley last Thursday.

The prized baby was an early arrival, a fact that did not surprise Bob Peters.

"She liked to be first at everything," Peters told The West Australian.

"She was our first mare served in September and the first to foal.

"They had to give her medication to hold her back. She was ready to foal two or three weeks earlier. The filly and her are both well."

Peters confirmed Delicacy was booked to be served by Pierro again next month, the young Coolmore stallion having already given them classic success last season with their homebred Pierro gelding Action winning the Group II WATC Derby.
