Second Stakes Win for Street Cry's Osborne Bulls

Mark Smith - Saturday August 18

Shortly after Street Cry's masterpiece, Winx created history at Randwick, the late Darley stallion was in the thick of things again when the remarkably consistent Osborne Bulls captured the Listed Regal Roller Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield.

Making his first start since winning the Listed Luskin Star Stakes at Scone back on May 12, the Godolphin colour-bearer defied the pattern on the day when he came from the rear of the field under Craig Williams to defeat Land Of Plenty (Stratum) by a short-head with Brave Song (Your Song) one and a half lengths back in third. It advances the record of the 5yo gelding to 8 wins, 2 seconds and 1 third from 11 starts with earnings of $377,010.

Stable representative Reg Fleming said he was worried in the run because of the lack of speed.

"They should have been fined for loitering early," Fleming said.

"I didn't like what was happening at the time, but that horse knows only one thing and that is to get to the line first.

"I think a mile might be right up his alley'".

A half-brother to the stakes-placed Badajoz (Commands), Osborne Bulls is the second foal of the Listed Ramornie Handicap winner Jerezana (Lonhro).

Jerezana has a 2yo colt by Brazen Beau named Mercury and was covered by that stallion last spring after missing to Epaulette in 2016.
