Starspangled Sprinter Chosen for The Everest

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday October 3
Godolphin will have a runner in the $13million The Everest on October 13 with their imported Starspangledbanner sprinter Home of the Brave (IRE) to represent the ATC.

Home of the Brave"The whole team at Godolphin are delighted Home Of The Brave has been chosen to represent the ATC. It is a fitting acknowledgement of Godolphin's commitment to Sydney and Australian racing," said Vin Cox, Managing Director of Godolphin Australia.

"We have no doubt the annual running of The Everest will become one of the most anticipated events on the Australian racing calendar and the whole team are excited to see the Royal Blue colours competing in this year's race.''

The seven year-old gelding scored a brilliant win in the Group II ATC Theo Marks Stakes over 1300 metres at his second run in Australia and was a close up last start fourth in the Group I MRC Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes over 1400 metres.

"We are delighted to have Home Of The Brave running in The Everest," said his trainer James Cummings.

"The great thing about a race like The Everest is that it captures a wider audience other than just racing enthusiasts. It is great for the whole team to have a horse in such a big race.

"There is a threat of some rain, so along with coming back to 1,200 metres with some cut in the ground he would have conditions to suit.

"It would be a feather in the cap of the team for a horse like him to perform well in a race like this."

Home of the Brave is by Australia's globetrotting world champion sprinter Starspangledbanner, who stands at Coolmore this spring at a fee of $11,000 alongside his sire Choisir.
