Hong Kong Star for Banner

Tara Madgwick - Monday November 19
On a day of top class stakes racing at Sha tin on Sunday there was plenty of interest in some of the up and coming winners on the program including exciting Starspangledbanner three year-old Styling City, who has a half-brother by Exceed and Excel to be offered at the NZB Ready to Run Sale this week.

Styling City - HKJCThe most expensive yearling sold in 2017 by Starspangledbanner, Styling City is showing the ability to match his looks and pricetag.

Trained by John Moore, the powerhouse chestnut gelding racked up his fourth win from six starts when he lugged 60.5 kg to victory in the Class Three sprint over 1000 metres.

He was a hot favourite and score by more than a length with Douglas Whyte in the saddle clocking a slick 56.76 seconds.

A $300,000 Inglis Easter purchase for George Moore Bloodstock / G Ling from the Amarina Farm draft, Styling City is the second winner from stakes-winning Artie Schiller (USA) mare Secret Liaison.

Riverslea Park will offer Lot 238 at the NZB Ready to Run Sale, an Exceed and Excel colt from Secret Liaison that made $125,000 at Inglis Premier earlier this year.

A champion son of Choisir, Starspangledbanner is priced for value this year at Coolmore at $11,000 and with better numbers and fertility in his last four seasons, has the potential to offer real rewards to his supporters this year.
