No Autumn Carnival for Pure Elation

Tara Madgwick - Monday December 3
Yarraman Park's rising super sire I Am Invincible has a stunning array of talented sprinters running for him this season, but will be without his star filly Pure Elation for the autumn carnivals.

Pure Elation A brilliant winner of the Group II ATC Furious Stakes at her only start in the spring, Pure Elation (image Steve Hart) was subsequently found to have bone chips in a knee and has been undergoing rehabilitation from knee surgery since then.

"She was going to Melbourne for the Coolmore but pulled up sore after she worked," Paul Snowden told Racenet.

"X-rays showed she had chips in her knee which is far from ideal.

"When the chips are displaced, they just suck them out but in her case they had to go in and scrape them out. Because the bone is very brittle they can sometimes remove too much bone."

It's the second time Pure Elation has had her career put on hold as she bled when winning the Group II ATC Percy Sykes Stakes last season as a two year-old.

"She's had three months out but is still a long way off coming back," said Snowden, who will be looking to the latter part of next year for his star filly to return.

"If she gets back it will hopefully some time next spring."

I Am Invincible has plenty of good back up three year-old fillies in the pipeline with Group I winners Oohood and Media Sensation along with Darley Princess Series winner Fiesta.
