Premier Pinhook Winners

Tara Madgwick - Thursday March 7
Widden Stud's Zoustar has been a huge pinhook winner this year with his rising stocks proving a great catalyst for sale ring success.

At the weanling sales last year Zoustar was a hot commodity as he marched towards his Champion First Season Sire title, but even his most ardent fans could not have foreseen his overwhelming spring success and the Group I trifecta in the VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes – Sunlight, Zousain, Lean Mean Machine- which propelled him into the realms of being a genuine top level sire.

Among the many big pinhook success stories for Zoustar this year is that of Maluka Thoroughbreds, who in partnership with Milawa Park, bought a colt from Saffie Darling out of the Jorson Farm draft at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale for $230,000.

He was re-offered earlier this week at Premier fetching $500,000 to the bid of Orbis Bloodstock to he bet most expensive yearling by his sire sold at this sale.

Bhima Thoroughbreds had a great result with a colt by Hinchinbrook from Shamardal Gold that made $360,000 to the bid of N Lee. He was originally a $120,000 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale purchase from the draft of Glastonbury Farm for Byron Bay Bloodstock.

He was the most expensive yearling by his ill-fated sire sold at this sale.

Springmount did well with their Pride of Dubai filly from Princeton Miss that made $210,000 when secured by R Cattle. Interestingly, she was purchased from the same Glastonbury Farm draft at the Gold Coast as the previous horse above, snaffled for $80,000 by Springmount.

She was the most expensive yearling sold at this sale by her first season sire.
