Black type next for $900,000 colt

Breednet - Wednesday August 23
$900,000 Snitzel colt Mutamayel is set for better races after making it two from two in an impressive display at Sandown on Wednesday.

Mutamayel as a yearlingHaving won on debut on the Pakenham Synthetic surface previously, Mutamayel came to town and was too strong for a last start city winner in Sheer Madness with co-trainer Ben Hayes suggesting black type racing is next.

"We're actually thinking of sending him to Adelaide and having a look at the Adelaide Guineas and we also maybe have a race in Sydney as well," Hayes said.

"It's a good effort to go from a maiden to a Benchmark 70 and not many horses do it so it's good to see him do that,

"When you're wide like that and caught three-wide, I'm glad he pushed forward.

"It was good to see him fight back and hit the line."

By Snitzel out of stakes winning Canadian mare Roses 'N' Wine (Broken Vow), Mutamayel was offered by Milburn Creek Stud at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, being knocked down to Shadwell Australia for $900,000.

He is the fourth foal of his dam, who are all now winners and include the GrI Spring Champion Stakes winner Hampton Court.

Interestingly, while it is very much a Canadian family up close she does boast super star mare Makybe Diva among her relations, along with siblings Musket, Valkyrie Diva and La Amistad.

Roses 'N' Wine has a yearling by Not A Single Doubt and was served by the same stallion last year.
