Ones to Watch - Zoustar Double

Tara Madgwick - Friday August 16
Zoustar was the leading sire of Australian three year-olds last season ahead of the likes of Snitzel, I Am Invincible, Redoute's Choice and Fastnet Rock with a winning double for two of his Guineas nominated promising new crop of three year-olds at Geelong on Friday indicating further success is on the way.

Zoupino as a yearlingWinning the opening race was the Lloyd Kennewell trained filly Zoupino, who overcame an outside gate to win the 1130 metre maiden by half a length on debut.

A $220,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the draft of Woodside Park Stud for Kennewell Racing/ Group I Bloodstock, Zoupino was bred by Woodside and is the first living foal of stakes-winning Magnus mare Prettyhappyaboutit, a half-sister to stakes-winner Born to Rock.

She holds an entry for the Group I MRC Thousand Guineas.

Winning the next race in the Aquis Farm colours was talented gelding Defence Attorney, who resumed from a spell with a resounding two length win in the 1230 metre maiden beating older horses.

Second on debut back in April at Mornington, he was subsequently spelled and gelded by trainers Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young and looks to have returned a more tractable commodity. He is entered for the Group I MRC Caulfield Guineas.

Defence Attorney as a yearlingDefence Attorney was a $140,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Middlebrook Valley Lodge draft for Aquis Farm, who have already tasted success with Zoustar as co-owners of brilliant Group II winner Lean Mean Machine, who stands at their Victorian base this spring at a fee of $17,600.

Defence Attorney is the first winner from stakes-placed Fastnet Rock mare Kincara Miss.

Zoustar is back at Widden Stud following a successful shuttling trip to Tweenhills Stud in the UK and will cover a full brook this spring at a fee of $154,000.
