First Win for Sebring Brother

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday September 24
The vagaries of breeding were highlighted at Wyong on Tuesday when the full brother to Golden Slipper winning sire Sebring won his first race as a four year-old over 2100 metres.

Maybach as a yearlingA $1.3million Magic Millions purchase for Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott/AQUIS/Blue Sky BS/Dermot Farrington from the Corumbene Stud draft, Maybach made his debut in November 2018 and finished unplaced after suffering cardiac arrhythmia in addition to bleeding.

Sent for a lengthy spell and gelded, Maybach returned to racing in late July and has steadily shown improvement as he has stepped up in trip and raced clear today to win the 2100 metre maiden by more than two lengths at his fifth start.

By champion sire More Than Ready (USA), Maybach is the sixth winner from Flying Spur mare Purespeed and is a sibling to not only Sebring, but also Group II winner Pureness and stakes-placed Falkenberg, who was third in the Group I BRC Queensland Oaks.

Purespeed died last year and her final foal is a yearling filly by More Than Ready.
