Inglis Banner to Begin New Race Series, Triple Crown Bonus

A strong field of 14 runners will contest the $500,000 Restricted Listed Inglis Banner at The Valley on Saturday, launching the $8m Inglis Race Series for the foal crop of 2017.

Ideas Man is the most expensive runner, pictured as a yearling Each of Inglis’ three major select yearling sales – Easter, Premier and Classic – are represented with graduates in the race, with leading stables such as Godolphin, Lindsay Park, Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, Mick Price/Mick Kent Jr and Ellerton Zahra Racing all present.

The early TAB favourite is Dundeel colt It’s A Deel, trained by Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young, who paid $150,000 for him at Easter from the Arrowfield Stud draft. He is $4.

Other stallions represented include Snitzel, Written Tycoon, Starspangledbanner, Brazen Beau, Hinchinbrook, Nicconi, Foxwedge, All Too Hard and Sizzling as well as first season sires Bull Point, Headwater and Pride of Dubai.

The highest-priced yearling in the race is Ideas Man (Brazen Beau x Innovation Girl), a $575,000 Premier Yearling Sale purchase for Ciaron Maher Racing from the Blue Gum Farm draft.

The winning trainer will receive a set of Swarovski Optik EL 32 Swarovision binoculars valued at $2554 for being a winning trainer of an Inglis Race Series event.

Saturday’s $500,000 Inglis Banner is not only the first race of the 2019 Inglis Race Series, but also the first leg of the $3m Inglis Triple Crown.

To win the Triple Crown (and a $3m bonus), a horse must win either the Inglis Banner or the $500,000 Inglis Nursery (Randwick, Saturday December 14) as well as the $2m Inglis Millennium (Warwick Farm, Saturday February 8) and the $1m Inglis Sires (Randwick, Day 1 of The Championships, Sat April 4).

The Inglis Banner is at 12.10pm Saturday.
