G1 Winner Consensus Smashes Australasian Online Auction Record

Media Release - Monday December 9

The sale of star mare Consensus (NZ) (Postponed) on gavelhouse.com has set an Australasian online auction record of $622,500 to the bid of Yulong Investments on Monday night.

ConsensusThe wonderfully credentialed mare is a fine example of the durable, tough Kiwi-breed. The daughter of Postponed (USA) raced across six seasons for 11 wins and six at stakes level including the Gr.1 Zabeel Classic (2,000m) and Gr.2 Sunline Stakes (1,600m) at Moonee Valley.

Having recently retired, the eight year old mare is in foal to Haunui Farm’s Iffraaj who added another Group One winner to his credentials courtesy of Wyndspelle’s emphatic Captain Cook Stakes (1,600m) victory on Saturday.

Consensus fetched considerably more than her $375,000 reserve and gavelhouse.com General Manager Haylie Martin was grateful of the opportunity to showcase the benefits of selling online “It’s a privilege to be given the opportunity to present horses of Consensus’ calibre to the market.

“There was plenty of interest in her from New Zealand and Australian clients right from the outset and this result demonstrates again that there really are no boundaries when it comes to presenting horses for sale online.”

The second highest priced Lot sold on gavelhouse.com is Lubaya (NZ) (Rip Van Winkle), who fetched $255,000 in August while Consensus’ dam Kate Cross sold in foal to Iffraaj in December 2017 for $85,000.

Entries for the next gavelhouse.com Thoroughbred fortnightly auction are due online by 7pm on Monday 16 December. For assistance with bidding contact the gavelhouse.com team via info@gavelhouse.com or call +64 9 296 4436
