First winner for Exosphere

Tara Madgwick - Thursday February 27

Proven sire of sires Lonhro has another sire son on the board with his first winner after Group I ATC Golden Rose hero Exosphere broke the ice at Newcastle on Thursday with Godolphin homebred Thermosphere.

Exosphere is on the board with his first winner! Trained by James Cummings, Thermosphere was fourth and second at her first two starts at Canterbury behind quality colts Prague and Spokesman.

Sent out as second favourite for this easier assignment, Thermosphere made a mistake at the start but got the job done taking out the 1300 metre maiden by a short head over the favourite, Snitzel colt Cultural Amnesia.

She half reared when the gates opened and was a clear last in the early stages, but recovered well and was tenacious to the line.

Thermosphere is the first winner for Canny Lad’s stakes-winning daughter Glows, who comes from the family of Group III winner Falaise.

Glows has another yearling colt to follow by Exosphere and is back in foal to him again with her weanling colt by another Lonhro son in Pierro.

Thermosphere is the first winner for Exosphere from just six runners, the powerhouse son of Lonhro has four entries for Inglis Premier and you can see them here.
