Top bets from Brad Waters for Saturday

Brad Waters - Saturday September 2

It doesn't get much better than spring in Melbourne and hopefully the change in seasons can produce a boost in the coffers leading into the peak racing period.

Spring has sprung in the world's most liveable city.

JUSTICE GLORY (Caulfield - Race 1 No 1)
Looking to get off to a fast start with the promising Justice Glory in the opening race of the day. Her form in two-year-old grades last time in was sound but there was a lot to like about her first-up victory at Sandown. She showed a decent little turn of foot to run home and nab Prosecution late in the piece with 59.5kg. She steps up to Benchmark 70 level for this but meets a few of the same horses she beat at Sandown and I'm counting on natural improvement derived from her first-up run to overcome any weight swings against her. She can win again.
BET: WIN
ODDS $4.20 @ Ladbrokes, Bookmaker, Betstar

TAHANEE (Caulfield – Race 2 No 9)
Going for another runner from which I expect good improvement in the form of the Darren Weir-trained Tahanee second-up on Saturday. The imported mare made a promising start top her career in Australia when she worked home well to be beaten a half-length by Here To There, who went on to win again at Moonee Valley last Saturday. Tahanee might have just peaked on her run late and he first-up run, which was her first since March, would have brought her right along for this. She stays at 1400m for this and will be harder to hold out on firmer footing.

LYUBA (Caulfield – Race 5 No 10)
This girl ran in an easier race when resuming at Caulfield a fortnight ago she hit the line well behind the hard-fit Sullivan Bay, who will play an important role setting the speed in this race as well. Lyuba is another runner that will be improved from that effort and she is unbeaten in two second-up outings. She has been in the first or second money at 11 of her 13 runs so she is a genuine type that ran well in two Group III races in Tasmania in February. She gets the perfect run from the inside barrier in the Cockram Stakes and should be thereabouts at the end of the race.

TALLY (Caulfield – Race 8 No 3)
This bloke is as honest as they come and he gets a chance to notch a deserved win in the Heatherlie Stakes. He ran in the Memsie Stakes at this level last year before improving well second-up to finish second over this trip at Flemington. However, the son of Street Cry looks to have return in good order with his honest effort with 61.5kg behind the handy Sovereign Nation at Flemington on August 12. He would have come on from that and any distance rise is a place for him. He is Caulfield Cup-qualified courtesy of his Mornington Cup win at this level in March and he's a good chance to score on Saturday.
BET: WIN
ODDS $7.50 @ Bet365
