Inglis Rural Property To Sell Macedon Lodge

Media Release - Friday April 4
Inglis Rural Property has been appointed as the selling agent for the sale of Macedon Lodge.

This magnificent thoroughbred training facility owned and operated by Lloyd Williams and his family is set at the foothill of Mt Macedon in Victoria, just 45kms north of the Melbourne CBD and only 20 minutes from Melbourne's International Airport.

Macedon Lodge is a world-class facility of the highest order. The attention to detail in terms of planning, development and maintenance of this property is second to none, as is its success in producing racetrack stars such as last year's Caulfield Cup winner Fawkner and the 2012 Melbourne Cup winner Green Moon. There could be no better place to train thoroughbred racehorses. Lloyd Williams applied the same level of detail and visionary thinking when he led the development of Melbourne's world class Crown Casino.

The countryside surrounding Macedon Lodge is stunningly beautiful and the location is perfect for thoroughbred training and spelling. It is well known that Lloyd Williams is a passionate racehorse owner, and this passion, enthusiasm and scholarship is evident in this 300 acre training centre. The 15 kilometres of training tracks is just the start, the property is more like an equine gymnasium with a wide range of facilities and equipment to carefully prepare equine athletes to perform at the elite level. The facility can accommodate 80 horses in training at one time, with an excellent array of stabling, day yards and spelling paddocks. The 75 metre saltwater swimming pool, water walker, 12 horse walkers, treadmills, solariums and showers provide a wide range of fitness and well-being therapies. One look at Macedon Lodge and you can see why this property has been so successful.

From a stable that has had winners in all the great Australian racing events, including three Melbourne Cups, the performance of horses trained at Macedon Lodge speaks much louder than words. In addition to the Williams Cup winners to come from the property, Macedon Lodge provided the ideal facility to prepare Ethereal for her Melbourne Cup win in 2001.

For over five decades, Lloyd Williams has been one of Australia's biggest and most successful owners. Having raced horses of the calibre of Mahogany, What a Nuisance, Just a Dash, Zipping, Efficient in addition to current stars Green Moon and Fawkner.

To complement the property's use for thoroughbred training, a recent change to the rural zones last year has provided scope for additional commercial development at Macedon Lodge. Importantly, under the applicable zone (Rural Conservation Zone 1) there is now potential for a bed and breakfast associated with the existing dwelling on the land subject to a permit for the development. Other commercial accommodation options are also now available subject to a permit including residential hotel and group accommodation. Likewise, complementary uses such as winery, restaurant or market are also now permitted (subject to a permit for the use).

Macedon Lodge is being offered for sale by Expressions of Interest closing on Friday, 7 November 2014 unless sold prior. A detailed description, photographic gallery and video showcasing this magnificent property can be found on the Inglis Rural Property website.
