A Perfect Match from G1 Goldmine

Media Release - Wednesday June 4
THE GREY GATSBY won the French Derby on the weekend by three lengths in race record time and was a planned mating four years ago using Stallion Match to identify that his sire and dam are a Perfect Match.

Stallion Match is a feature of the G1 Goldmine service which was released six years as a tool to help breeders find a perfect match for their mares.

Stallion Match is based the idea of replicating success and a 20/20 pedigree is a pedigree that has produced at least 2 other Group winners with a similar pattern.

"We were very excited when we first launched the service 6 years ago," said G1 Goldmine's designer Leo Tsatsaronis, "and it is satisfying to now see some of these matches developing into Group level horses. The Grey Gatsby is the fourth Group 1 winner that was a planned 20/20 mating. And it doesn't have to be with commercial stallions either, HAVANA Rey is a Group 2 winner by KING CUGAT that was a 20/20 match when planned."

Most of the progressive stud farms from around the world have subscribed their stallions so breeders can match their mares for free with some of the best stallions in their region.

In recent years, the Stallion Match report has been enhanced to show an Aptitude Profile that profiles the age and distance range that pedigree is likely to achieve.

The red dots show Stakeswinners at that age and distance - the bigger the red dot, the more Stakeswinners at that Age/Distance range.
