Breedr, a new end-to-end digital booking platform, is set to revolutionise the thoroughbred breeding industry.

Specifically built to benefit both breeders and stud farms alike, this innovative new software is free for all industry participants to access, created to simplify the booking process. Launched today, Breedr uses the latest technology to offer the industry a streamlined and paperless option to the current booking process.

According to founder Tom Seymour, Breedr was created by the desire to source innovative solutions that provide practical efficiencies and cost savings to everyone in the industry.

“Our goal is to offer streamlined options to existing practices – some booking systems haven’t changed in 30 years. Same outcome, just a more modern pathway. I feel we have achieved that in spades,” Seymour said. “Once a mating plan is decided upon, booking a mare to a stallion should be as easy as booking a flight on Webjet – anytime, anywhere, efficient for the passenger (breeder), efficient for the airline (stud).”

Breedr aligns with the most advanced technology and data providers in the market; Arion will provide the mare data and pedigrees; DocuSign the e-Signature contracts; and Prism, providing the digital Stallion Management interface.

The technology is so advanced it allows studs to pick and choose any part of the system they wish to utilise and can run alongside any existing software programs. As the recent COIVD-19 pandemic proved, businesses need to be able to function remotely and adapt to their staff’s needs. Being a cloud-based platform, this gives Breedr users the ability to login securely from anywhere, at any time.

After today’s launch, the focus for the next three months in the lead up to the season, will be working with new users to customise the system to the needs of each breeder and stud farm. The beauty of the software behind Breedr is that it is extremely tailorable and can easily expand to cater for any future requirements of the industry.

Founder Tom Seymour is hopeful that by providing free access to these digital tools, smaller industry participants, the backbone of the industry, will have the opportunity to develop more sustainable business models. The Breedr efficiencies will save costs and free up administrative workloads that can otherwise be reinvested back into the welfare of the horses and the people committed to their care
