Another Pierro Stakes-Winner Headed for Hong Kong

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday June 23

Dual Group I winner Shadow Hero won’t be the only stakes-winning son of Pierro that David Hayes will be training when he heads to Hong Kong with news classy two year-old colt Untamed will also join his team.

Previously trained by Peter and Paul Snowden for a big syndicate that included Newgate Farm and China Horse Club, in whose colours he ran, Untamed had just four starts winning two of them including the Listed ATC Fernhill Handicap (1600m).

He was last seen finishing fifth in the Group I ATC Champagne Stakes behind King’s Legacy and Glenfiddich and won over $170,000 in his brief career to date.

Untamed was a $450,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Luskin Park draft and is from a full sister to Group I winning sire Foxwedge.

Pierro has already made his mark in Hong Kong with seven winners from 11 runners, those winners headed by Group I Hong Kong Derby winner Furore.

He also has a great record in Singapore, four winners from five runners and Macau, where he has had four winners from four runners.

Toughness and trainability, coupled with scope to handle a trip are making his progeny very attractive to the Asian market.
