Collingrove Brand to Shine at Premier

Daniel Brash and his team at Euroa based Collingrove Stud have been kept busy with parade inspections ahead of the 2021 Inglis Premier Sale where they will present 17 yearlings including a filly that has become a social media sensation.

“We’ve got a great draft this year for a variety of clients including Swettenham Stud and the quality and numbers are up on last year so we are looking forward to making our mark,” said Brash, who has worked in the racing and breeding industry for over 25 years.

“The Collingrove named has a great history of success from it’s association with the Hayes and Sangster families and I was delighted when Adam Sangster approached me with the idea of using it for my new business.”

The Collingrove draft features 17 yearlings including four by one of Victoria’s favourite sons in Toronado (IRE) and three by seven time Group I winner and Champion Older Horse Highland Reel (IRE), who is the sire of Lot 700, a filly that is turning heads wherever she goes.

She is the fifth foal of Serene Diva, a two time winner by Desert King (IRE) from the family of stakes-winner Serene Star.

“We’ve had an amazing response to her through social media and she’s been popular in her physical inspections as she is a lovely filly with a great attitude even without her colouring,” said Brash.

“Her mother is a normal chestnut with minimal white and her sire Highland Reel is a very typical bay by Galileo, so we’re not entirely sure where it’s coming from.”

For those of us that remember Starspangledbanner up close and personal, the powerhouse chestnut did have a prominent white splash on his belly on the offside and he does come from the same female family as Highland Reel, so maybe in some weird genetic twist Lot 700 has a little of the ‘stardust’ in her too.
