Slipper Dreaming at Kia Ora

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday March 23

Kia Ora Stud are moving into an exciting new phase this year in standing their own stallion in Golden Slipper winner Farnan, but they might also be selling a half-sister to a Golden Slipper winner at Inglis Easter if the cards fall into place for O’President.

Breednet owner Craig Tompson is an avid form follower and statistician and his stats based Golden Slipper preview story last Friday night ( read it here) revealed his top three Slipper picks which included Fastnet Rock colt O’President.

A $520,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Kia Ora draft last year for James Bester, the Fastnet Rock colt has had two dominant wins from three starts and a wet track holds no fears for him!

Lot 458 is the half-sister to O'President, click to see her page.

The Inglis Easter inspection tour were greatly impressed with Lot 458, the I Am Invincible half-sister to O’President from Group I winner O’Marilyn, a half-sister to Group I winners Headturner and Anacheeva.

With two winners from two foals to race, O’Marilyn promises to be another one of those outstanding O’Reilly broodmares highlighted in this Breednet story on Monday, read it here..

Kia Ora Stud will present a draft of 14 outstanding yearlings, but if you are looking for a Cups horse of the future, a serious classic horse with real substance then it’s hard to go past Lot 448.

Lot 448 - click to see the page for this So You Think colt with a deep pedigree.

One look at that head tells you who his sire is.

Yes, you’d be right if you were thinking So You Think and he’s the third foal of Nakataan (NZ), a winning half-sister by Zabeel to 2012-2013 New Zealand Filly of the Year Fix from a European family bristling with elite Group winners including Foreteller (GB), who came out here and won three Group I races – Ranvet, Underwood and Makybe Diva.
