Invincible Filly Another Stakes-Winner for Emirates Park

Tara Madgwick - Saturday April 3

Emirates Park bred horses have been racing up a storm over the past month with stakes-winners Lightsaber, Enthaar, Marboosha and Liwa all carrying the Emirates Park brand as does impressive two year-old I Am Invincible filly Najmaty, who took out the Listed MRC Redoute’s Choice Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on Saturday.

From Group III winning Northern Meteor mare Najoom, the Emirates Park homebred has been handled patiently by Peter and Paul Snowden and was sent to Melbourne following her ultra impressive debut win at Randwick on March 10.

Ridden quietly by John Allen after jumping from an outside gate, she was a little anxious in the run, but when asked to go forward in the straight, quickly shot past her rivals to win on the bridle by nearly three lengths.

It was a bit of an ask to go from a maiden win to a stakes race at Caulfield, but at this time of year when a two year-old wins a maiden in Sydney, you’re then looking at Group races and we though this race looked a more likely option,” said co-trainer Peter Snowden.

“She did a few things wrong so there is a bit to work on, but a race like the Percy Sykes (Group II, April 17) might be within her grasp when she gets back to Sydney.”

Najmaty has already won over $123,000 and is the second foal and second winner from Najoom, who was bought as a yearling by Emirates Park at Magic Millions from the Willow Park draft for $225,000 in 2013.

Najoom had just seven starts for five wins and two seconds winning two Group III races before a premature retirement to stud.

Her mother is a half-sister to stakes-winners Upon this Rock, Bhutane Dane and Gaze On coming from a prolific Black Type family that has produced the likes of $7million earner Criterion and Group I winner Comin’ Through.

Najoom has no yearling, but did produce a filly by I Am Invincible last spring and is now in foal to I Am Invincible’s first grand-son to stud in Tassort.

The family appears at Inglis Easter with Lot 248, a Merchant Navy filly to be offered by Segenhoe from Charlety Star, who is the grand-dam of Najmaty.

Najmaty is the 63rd stakes-winner for Yarraman Park's champion sire I Am Invincible, who has some sensational yearlings for Inglis Easter.
