Debut Chantilly Winner for Churchill

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday July 7

The first crop Northern Hemisphere winners keep coming for Galileo’s champion son Churchill (IRE), who sired a promising debut winner at Chantilly in France overnight in Dancinginthestreet.

Trained by Carlos and Yann Lerner, Dancinginthestreet raced clear for an easy two length victory in the seven furlong fillies maiden beating Saving Grace, a daughter of Almanzor.

Retained to race by her breeders, Dancinginthestreet is the first winner for Group III placed Miss Cato and becomes the eighth winner for Churchill.

A brilliant miler that won four Group I races at two and three, Churchill returns to Coolmore Australia this spring at a fee of $22,000 and will have his first runners here next season.

Churchill yearlings have sold strongly here this year with eight selling at Magic Millions at an average $141,875, four sold at Inglis Premier at an average $162,500 and nine sold at Inglis Classic for an average $92,778.

His top seller was a colt from Heaven’s Touch that made $250,000 at Magic Millions when snapped up by Anthony Freedman Racing/Blue Sky Bloodstock P/L.
