Debut Winner for Flying Artie

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday August 4

Opening his account with a fast finishing win at Randwick on Wednesday was talented Flying Artie gelding Flying Crazy.

Trained by Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou, Flying Crazy had trialled once previously finishing second to highly rated Snitzel colt Remarque last month and confirmed that potential when charging home to win the 1100m maiden by a neck running away.

Winning rider Jay Ford was well pleased with Flying Crazy, who holds an entry for the Group I ATC Golden Rose next month.

“The stable gave him a good push and said he was a nice horse,” said Ford.

“Once he got balanced and I got him to the outside, he showed what he can do.

“He’s obviously got a bright future.”

A $40,000 Inglis Classic purchase from the Newgate Farm draft for WBF Thoroughbreds / Equi-Com Syndications, Flying Crazy is the first winner for Forever Crazy, a winning Encosta de Lago  half-sister to the dams of Group II winner Hawkshot and stakes-winner Power Scheme.

Flying Crazy as a yearling.

Forever Crazy comes from the family of Group I winners Shindig and Shinzig and her yearling colt by Russian Revolution was also bought by Equi-Com Syndications for $80,000 this year at Inglis Easter.

Flying Artie stands at Newgate Farm this spring at a fee of $33,000.
