Russian Revolution Colt Wins G3 Pago Pago

Tara Madgwick - Saturday March 12

Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott will have a runner in next week’s Golden Slipper after talented Russian Revolution colt Rise of the Masses forced his way into the field winning the Group III ATC Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on Saturday.

Second in the Group II ATC Skyline Stakes two weeks ago, he took improvement from that run and was too strong for Deep Field colt Sweet Ride winning by half a length with Inglis Easter sale-topper and race favourite Magic finishing third two lengths further back.

“He’s a horse we’ve always had a good  opinion of and is  deserving of a place in the Slipper should Sir Owen Glenn want to take him that way,” said Adrian Bott.

“I feel he could make his presence felt as he’s just been putting it together. When he got into a fight today, he knuckled down and was very strong late.”

Rise of the Masses returns a winner!

A homebred colt for Sir Owen Glenn’s Go Bloodstock that was foaled and raised at Newgate Farm, Rise of the Masses has two wins and two placings from four starts with prizemoney in excess of $165,000.

He is the second winner for Group I winning Bernardini (USA) mare Ruud Awakening, who was the Champion 2YO of New Zealand in 2013.

Newgate Farm will offer the current yearling from Ruud Awakening, a filly by I Am Invincible as Lot 393.

Ruud Awakening has a weanling filly by Snitzel to follow and was covered by Extreme Choice last spring.

Russian Revolution may have three runners in the Golden Slipper.

Rise of the Masses is the second stakes-winner for Newgate Farm’s leading first season sire Russian Revolution, who is likely to have three runners in the Golden Slipper with this colt joining his fillies Revolutionary Miss and Russian Conquest in the world’s richest race for two year-olds.

Russian Revolution has five entries for Inglis Easter.
