Majestic G3 Winx Guineas Winner for So You Think

Tara Madgwick - Saturday July 2

So You Think’s bumper season continued at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday when his promising three year-old Majestic Colour extended his winning run to four on the trot with a commanding victory in the $200,000 Group III Winx Stakes (1600m).

The Kelly Schweida trained gelding broke his maiden at his third start on May 4 before reeling off wins at Ipswich and Doomben prior to his first Black Type success.

Ridden by James Orman, he strode to the front after turning for home and made light of the heavy 10 track to win by two lengths.

"It was a good win and he's been putting them away quite easily at midweek grade,” said James Orman.

"A big step up here today, but he's gave me the feel of a really good horse. Maybe he got through the track better than everything else. He's a progressive horse."

A homebred for Ron and Judy Wanless, Majestic Colour has four wins and a second from six starts with prizemoney just shy of $180,000.

"They've (Ron and Judy Wanless) been very patient with him. He's taken a bit of time, he has an unusual action, but he's won four-from-four this preparation. so we’re really pleased for the owners and the staff at home,” said Kelly Schweida.

"He's by So You Think so you'd think he'd get 2000 metres on his ear and he can handle the wet. That was the bonus for us today and he's a progressive type.”

Majestic Colour is the first winner from Vivid Diamonte, a Fastnet Rock mare that was bought as a yearling by the Wanless family for $300,000 at the NZB Premier Yearling Sale in 2013. She started twice before retiring to stud and is a daughter of Group II winner Flushed.

Vivid Diamonte was on-sold last July through Inglis Digital for $17,000 to Brian Dowling and produced a Churchill (IRE) colt for him last spring before being covered by Zousain.

So You Think

Majestic Colour is the 43rd stakes-winner for So You Think and is his 12th Australian stakes-winner this season.

So You Think stands at Coolmore this spring at a fee of $93,500.
