Vert de Grece Relocates to Brisbane Meadows in NSW

Media Release - Tuesday August 9

Promising young sire Vert de Grece (IRE) has relocated from Geisel Park in Western Australia and stands this spring at Brisbane Meadows on the Southern Highlands of NSW.

A Group I winner in France at two capturing the Criterium International by four lengths, he was also second in the Group II Futurity Stakes in Ireland beaten narrowly by Gleneagles.

Vert de Grece was a Group I winning 2YO.

By champion French sire Verglas, he represents the highly successful Grey Sovereign sireline through Kenmare and comes from a superb European female family that has been in the spotlight in 2022 for producing rising star stayer Kyprios, a two time Group I winner this year of the Ascot Gold Cup and Goodwood Cup.

With his oldest progeny just turned four, Vert de Grece has made a promising start to his stud career with five winners from his first two small crops and two of them are stakes-placed horses in She’s Greysful and Tizzle Top.

She’s Greysful had form around the top fillies in WA last season finishing fourth in the Group III WATC Gimcrack Stakes behind undefeated filly Amelia’s Jewel and second to Sheeza Belter in the Listed Magic Millions WA 2YO Classic at Pinjarra.

Sheeza Belter showed her class later in the season winning the Group I BRC JJ Atkins in Brisbane and She’s Greysful has a win over the glamour filly to her credit having beaten her at Ascot the start before the MM WA 2YO Classic.

Vert de Grece stands at a fee of $4,400 and is BOBS eligible.

“We feel his progeny are only just getting started and there’s a lot to come for this well credentialed son of Verglas,” said Fiona Mylan of Brisbane Meadows.

“Vert de Grece offers local breeders a Group I winning juvenile that has already produced two year-old winners and black type performers from small books of mares.

“He’s Danehill free, so that is also a big tick for us moving forward.”

Vert de Grece stands at a fee of $4,400 this spring.
