Inglis Ready2Race Now Online

Media Release - Sunday August 14

The catalogue for the Inglis Ready2Race Sale – far and away the strongest 2YO catalogue Australia has ever seen – is now available online.

A total of 289 lots have been finalised for the auction, which will be held at Riverside on Tuesday October 11, four days before the $15m The Everest.

Reigning champion Hong Kong sire Deep Field is the most represented sire with 13 entries.

Among the 110 individual stallions represented in this year’s catalogue are leading sires such as Zoustar, Exceed And Excel, Toronado, Deep Field, Per Incanto, Russian Revolution, So You Think, Savabeel, Maurice, Pierro, Capitalist, Tarzino, Dundeel, Fastnet Rock, Tavistock, Spirit Of Boom, Street Boss, Shalaa, All Too Hard, Brazen Beau, Star Turn, Almanzor, Hellbent, Tivaci, Turn Me Loose etc.

The sale also provides an opportunity for an advanced preview of the first 2YOs by a hugely exciting group of young stallions including The Autumn Sun, Trapeze Artist, Justify, Written By, Brave Smash, Grunt, Saxon Warrior, Showtime, Harry Angel, Lean Mean Machine, Real Steel, U S Navy Flag, Mendelssohn, Prized Icon, Embellish, Santos, Eminent, Encryption and Ace High.

The catalogue has been supported by 45 different vendors, with stock being prepared by many of the most renowned horse people across Australia and New Zealand including Blake Ryan, Dean Harvey, Jamie Beatson, Jean Dubois, Matt Vella, Hinnerk Hueppe, Sam Beatson, Shane Crawford, Tal Nolen, Shaun Nolen, Matthew and Alison Park, Will Forrester, John Malcolm, Mark Forbes, Kelly Van Dyk, Peter Moffatt, etc.

The success enjoyed by graduates of the Inglis Ready2Race Sale in recent years has been particularly noteworthy, with graduates including the likes of dual G1 winner Nettoyer, G2 winners Forgot You (G1 placed), Lightsaber (G1 placed), Prix de Turn, Hong Kong sprinting talent Wishful Thinker and Allibor, G3 winners Gunstock, Trumbull and another Hong Kong speedster in Super Wealthy, as well as domestic talents like G1 VRC Oaks runner-up Douceur, Malkovich, See You In Spring, Stageman and international stars Golden Monkey, Relentless and Starlight.

Last year's Inglis Ready 2 Race sale-topper Alpha One was beaten narrowly in the G3 Vain Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday.

Flying the flag in recent weeks most successfully for the sale has been last year's sale-topper Alpha One, who sold for $400,000 and has been in hot form with three successive wins before a close second in the Group III MRC Vain Stakes on Saturday.

The Peter and Paul Snowden trained son of Super One had the race won everywhere bar the post and his speed to burn will see him win many more races.

In total, the Inglis Ready2Race Sale has produced over 450 individual winning graduates since 2016.

The average earnings of recent Inglis Ready2Race graduates of $84,776 is 26% more than graduates of the other Australian 2YO sale, with Stakes winning graduates across a huge number of states and countries including NSW, Victoria, SA, WA, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Macau, Malaysia etc.

This year there will be breeze ups at Seymour (September 9), Eagle Farm (September 14), Warwick Farm (September 16), Cambridge (September 19) and an alternate session to be held at Warwick Farm (October 6), with all vision of the gallops to be uploaded to the Inglis website and iPad app within 48 hours of each breeze session.

“This sale has been hugely progressive in recent years and the confidence in the sale from the Southern Hemisphere’s leading vendors has resulted in a catalogue of unprecedented strength this year,’’ Inglis Bloodstock chief executive Sebastian Hutch said.

“It is a sale format in which we have invested a huge amount of time and effort in recent years in particular, which creates the opportunity for buyers to purchase ready-made racing stock that has been developed and prepared by some of Australasia’s very best horse people.

“The past three Inglis Ready2Race sales have produced a host of talented racehorses – to date, they are the only Australian 2YO sales at which buyers could have bought a Stakes winner – and they are also outperforming the equivalent New Zealand sale considering the relative number of horses offered.

“I know a number of the vendors are particularly bullish about the quality of horses that they are preparing this year and we are really excited to engage domestic and international buyers in the sale over the next six-to-eight weeks before welcoming them to Riverside for the sale in October.”

All horses in the catalogue are eligible for the $7.55m Inglis Race Series, including the $2m Inglis Millennium and the new $1m Pink Bonus Scheme.
