G1 Guineas Goal for Arctic Glamour

Tara Madgwick - Saturday October 14

A patient approach is paying dividends for Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou with talented filly Arctic Glamour staking her claim for the Group I MRC Thousand Guineas next month with a stylish victory in the Listed ATC Reginald Allen Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on Saturday.

Placed at her first two starts back in June, Arctic Glamour resumed from a spell to score a dominant four length maiden win in midweek company at Rosehill and took the quantum leap into Black Type company in her stride.

Ridden perfectly by Kerrin McEvoy, Arctic Glamour powered to the line to overhaul gallant Joliestar and kept up a strong gallop to the line to win by a couple of lengths and has now won two of four starts earning over $150,000 for her big ownership group.

uo;We think she’s a really nice filly and has always shown promise, although she was hard to sell as a yearling, no one wanted her being by Frosted and we’d paid $180,000 for her,” Gerald Ryan recalled.

“Her aim is the Thousand Guineas, it’s just how we get there, but I’ll talk to Kerrin and Sterling and work that out.”

A $185,000 buy for Ryan and Alexiou Racing from the Noorilim Park draft at the 2022 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, Arctic Glamour was the most expensive yearling by her sire at that sale and is a half-sister to the Group III SAJC Chairman's Stakes winner Waging War.

Arctic Glamour was a $180,000 Inglis Premier purchase from Noorilim Park.

Bred by the SA based Toorak Thoroughbred Breeding Trust, she is the fourth winner from as many to race for the Galileo (IRE) mare Fartoo Flashy, a half-sister to stakes-placed Lagerphone.

Pride Racing shelled out $180,000 for a So You Think half-brother to Arctic Glamour consigned by Mill Park to the 2023 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.

Fartoo Flashy foaled an Admire Mars filly on August 9.

Arctic Glamour is the 22nd stakes-winner for Frosted (USA), who covered just 23 mares last spring and did not return to Darley Victoria in 2023.
