First G1 Winner of 2024 for Frankel

Tara Madgwick - Saturday January 27

It’s still January and Frankel already has his first Group I winner of the year with Godolphin’s homebred four year-old stallion Measured Time winning the Group I Jebel Hatta (1m1f) at Meydan overnight on the turf.

Trained by Charlie Appleby and ridden by William Buick, Measured Time forged clear to win by a length and three-quarters over his stablemate Ottoman Fleet taking his overall record to five wins and a second from six starts.

ured Time is a half-brother to triple Group I winner Rebel’s Romance and is the second stakes-winner among four winners from Group III placed Street cry mare Minidress, a sister to Group III winner Volcanic Sky and daughter of Group III winner Short Skirt.

William Buick believes Measured Time can measure up to the class of Dubai World Cup night.

The Frankel  x Street Cry nick has  produced 10 winners from 12 runners and six of them are stakes-winners, so 50% SW to runner!

He is the 34th Group I winner worldwide for Frankel and is the first of what will probably be many for this year.

Frankel has 14 entries for the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, click to see them.
