It was a memorable weekend for Cambridge Stud Bloodstock Manager Cameron Ring.
The 29-year-old was the recipient of the Mary-Lynne Ryan Young Achiever Award at the National Breeding Awards on Saturday evening, and 24-hours later he was in the spotlight once more when he received the supreme Industry Excellence Award at the Entain Awards in Auckland.
He was voted the winner in the Leadership category before going on to be named the inaugural winner of the top Entain prize, which was decided from the nine individual category winners.
The awards were created by TAB operators Entain Australia and New Zealand to recognise the emerging leaders and rising stars under the age of 40 in the ranks across all three racing codes.
“It was a huge weekend and I feel very honoured and privileged,” Ring said.
“I started at Cambridge Stud in 2018 and came on when Brendan and Jo (Lindsay, Cambridge Stud principals) took over.
“I want to thank Henry Plumptre for giving me the opportunity and mentorship at Cambridge Stud.”
Ring initially worked in Sales and Nominations before taking up the role of Bloodstock Manager earlier this year.
“He certainly had a weekend to remember, and it was a testament to his ability to step up and when he received his awards he handled himself so well on both nights,” Plumptre said.
“They are big occasions for a young man, they are significant awards.
“Cameron has worked in some great environments, he did the Irish National Stud course and had stints at Waikato and Trelawney Studs and he’s settled in with us really well." – LOVERACING.NZ News Desk
