$2million I Am Invincible Mare Makes it Three Wins on the Trot

Tara Madgwick - Saturday August 3

The most expensive yearling by champion sire I Am Invincible sold in 2022, stylish grey mare I Am Famous made $2million at Inglis Easter for Tyreel Stud and while it took her a little while to break into the winner’s list, she’s now making a habit of it!

I Am Famous makes it a hat-trick of wins at Rosehill - image Steve Hart

Handled patiently by Chris Waller, I Am Famous broke her maiden at Warwick Farm in early June, then followed up with a soft Class 1 win at Hawkesbury before a freshen up and a step up in grade to Saturday class.

Lining up in a Benchmark 78 event over 1400m at Rosehill, I Am Famous was again ridden by Kerrin McEvoy and was able to control the race before kicking on to win by half a length. Her overall record now stands at three wins from eight starts with  prizemoney just shy of $160,000.

“She needed to get her confidence and Kerrin has worked with her nicely these past two starts,” said Chris Waller.

“His instructions were to let her be where she’s happy and comfortable and he’s a great front running rider.

“I don’t think she’ll go too much further this preparation, but she’s a well bred mare and if we place her right and find the right races it should eventually lead to Black Type.”

I Am Famous sold for $2million as a yearling.

I Am Famous was purchased by Ross Visalli’s Yellow Brick Road/ Mitchell Bloodstock and is a big investment in a family going places with other family members being Group I winner Chain of Lightning and Group III winner Po Kare Kare, who both sold at the 2024 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale for $2.5million and $750,000 respectively.

A half-sister to Everest winner and $9.3million earner Classique Legend and Group II winner Aethero, I Am Famous becomes the fourth winner from four foals to race from terrific producer Pinocchio, a winning full sister to Champion Miler and five time Group I winner Racing to Win.

Tyreel Stud elected to sell Pinocchio at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale this year in foal to I Am Invincible and she duly made $1.15milliont to the bid of Bromfield Park / Group 1 Bloodstock.

As hard as it must have been to part with Pinocchio, Linda Monds and her team have a little bit to go on with from their much loved mare as they still have a yearling filly from the star producer by I Am Invincible and a three year-old Pierro filly called Candlewick that has been retained and has shown nice talent for John O’Shea and Tom Charlton.
