Spirit Of Boom Filly Heading to MM Classic after Gold Pearl Win - Half-Brother MM

Craig Tompson - Saturday January 4

Exciting Spirit Of Boom filly La Bella Boom will follow a successful path and head to the Magic Millions 2YO Classic next Saturday after her win in the Aquis Gold Pearl at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday.

Spirit Of Boom sired the Quinella of the Aquis Gold Pearl.

Going into the race as favourite after a win and third at her only previous runs, La Bella Boom found herself in a perfect position, midfield on the fence behind a scorching early pace set by Rainbow Glow and was obviously the winner as far as 300 metres from home.

Ridden by Craig Williams, the Tony Gollan trained daughter of Spirit Of Boom ultimately defeated Forgotten Spirit (also Spirit Of Boom) by 2.5 lengths with Don'tdoubthelady (Dubious) third.

Interestingly, while Tony Gollan trains the winner, she is part-owned by top Victorian trainer Ciaron Maher.

t;She’s a real 2YO. She’s been like that all the way,” said Gollan.

“She’s not one that knocks your socks off but she’s all business.

“I spoke to one of the other owners, Cairon Maher and said I’d be pretty keen to go on the seven day back up.

“It’s been a good successful model for a lot of horses in the last 15 years.”

The win takes La Bella Boom’s record to two wins and a third from three starts with earnings of $222,950.

She was a $200,000 purchase for Alice Berry from the Magic Millions Strawberry Hill Stud (Unreserved Dispersal Sale) then a $300,000 purchase for Gollan Racing, John Foote Bloodstock and Blacksoil Bloodstock from the Sledmere Stud draft at the MM Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

The filly is the first foal of Not A Single Doubt mare La Girl, a half-sister to stakes winner Oughton who finished his career as A Pal in Hong Kong.

It is also the family of NZ Thousand Guineas winner Captured By Love, Savvy Nature and Addictive Nature.

It was another great two-year-old result for Eureka’ Stud’s Spirit Of Boom, having sired the quinella and has six juvenile winners already this season to be the most successful sire of youngsters.

Half-brother by St Mark's Basilica (Fr) to La Bella Boom.

Yulong Stud bought La Girl from the same Strawberry Hill Dispersal in 2023 as La Bella Boom, paying $320,000 and they will offer her yearling by St Mark’s Basilica at this week’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale as Lot 576.

She foaled a colt by Diatonic last season and was served by Pierata.
